Collingwood Monument

The Lord Admiral Collingwood monument facing on to the river Tyne. He was second in command to Nelson in the battle of Trafalgar.
The memorial designed by John Dobson and sculpted by John Graham Lough was erected in 1845. The guns are from
Collingwood's ship the Royal Sovereign. The peoples farewell to the last visit of the Royal Yacht Britannia as she sails passed
the Collingwood Monument to the open sea. 12/11/97 at 11.05 am
